Learn to Row

Have you always wanted to try rowing? Are you looking for a new activity to stay fit? Do you enjoy being in nature and working with a group of like-minded people? If you said yes, welcome to Great Bay Rowing!

Our Adult Learn to Row programs are divided into two levels, to help athletes progress at their own pace with others at the same skill level.

Adult Learn to Row 1 is designed for adults with no experience in the sport, or for those who may have dabbled a time or two and are looking to get back into the swing of things. You will learn the basic stroke on the erg (indoor rowing machine) and take your skills to the water in stable sculling (two oars per person) and sweep (one oar per person) boats, depending on enrollment numbers. Athletes will master basic technical skills and develop comfort and independence in a variety of boat types.

Adult Learn to Row 2 will build on the skills of LTR 1, while increasing athletes’ confidence and mastery on the water. You must complete LTR 1 before moving onto LTR 2, and subsequently complete LTR 2 before joining any of the masters recreational or competitive teams.

All programs will be coached by our experienced, knowledgeable staff who put emphasis on the development of the individual athlete.
