What Should I bring??
- On the First day – Your REQUIRED PAPERWORK
- Water (there is no potable water on site, so bring plenty to drink)
- A snack
- A change of clothes
- Sunscreen. Bug Spray
- Sunglasses. Hat
- Easy Slip off shoes that can get wet, (slides, tevas, crocs)
- Towel for cleaning up/drying off after practice
What should I wear?
Check out this complete guide, with links to stores, for rower & coxswain apparel.
- Spandex/Compression pants or shorts – everything must be tight fitting in the boat
- Tight fitting t-shirt or tank – quick dry preferred
- Synthetic clothing dries quickly. Please do not wear cotton clothing. When wet, cotton rapidly robs the heat from your body and takes a long time to dry.
- Please dress in multiple layers, allowing flexibility to comfortably respond to the weather conditions and your level of exertion.
- Socks that can get dirty (the boat has built in shoes – you’ll want to wear socks in these shoes)
- Sneakers for warm up – these are not worn in the boat
- Shoes that are easy and quick to take off – slides, crocs, flip flops
- Wind breaker/rain coat – weather changes quickly. Make sure these are form fitted and not loose if worn in the boat.
Where do I go?
What if it Rains???
We row Rain or Shine. However, if there is a chance of thunderstorms, we will act according to our safety protocols and head to our Indoor Training space. Check your email.
What Paperwork/Forms do I need?

What do I need to do for the swim test form?
GBR does not conduct the swim tests, however, we need to know that rowers can swim. PFD’s are not worn in the boats. The test needs to be observed by a certified lifeguard. GBR is not affiliated with any pool, so we cannot guarantee that you can have your test completed. We suggest you call prior to going. Members have had luck with local pools during the open-swim hours.

What should I know about Regattas?
Regattas are usually all day races. Junior rowers are expected to attend all regattas for that season – unless previously discussed with a coach. Information about each regatta will be sent to the athletes competing in the week leading up to the event.
Can junior rowers drive themselves to a regatta?
No, rowers are not allowed to drive themselves to a regatta. This is a club rule. Races are usually at least an hour away and very early in the morning. Teen drivers will be very tired after a full day of racing and should not be driving. If rowers are in need of a ride, they can reach out to other teammates to carpool or talk to a coach about arranging a ride.
What should I do if I cannot go to practice?
Email the coaches at gbrcoach@gmail.com.
For junior team rowers – a attendance sheet is sent out each Sunday, fill out your schedule for that week if you know ahead of time that you can’t make it. If it is last minute, ie: not feeling well, etc, then please email the coaches as soon as possible.
What is your refund policy?
We hope that you will row with us, but if things change and you need a refund, please CLICK HERE
